Once upon a time...

I went to Ohio to visit Curtis. I flew in about midnight last Friday. Curtis picked me up from the airport and we headed back to Columbus. We had to stop at his place before he took me over to Brandi's for the night. While we were there, he gave me a dozen roses. Very sweet start to the weekend. They smelled soooo good!

Saturday Curtis picked me up to go get my fingerprints done for my teaching license stuff and then we made breakfast at his place. The sun was shining and it looked beautiful outside, so we drove to a small park that had a trail around a little lake. We walked for a few minutes there and decided that although the sun was out... it was still freezing! After our walk, we ran a few errands and got groceries for our Sunday dinner. Then Curtis dropped me off at Brandi's while he went to a church meeting. It was really nice to spend some time with Brandi since I don't normally get a chance to hang out with her alone. We ran a few errands too, and then stopped for smoothies at Cosi...which has become one of my favorites so far in Columbus. After Curtis was done his meeting, we went out to dinner and then to a friend's party for a little bit. Since the party was so close to the Columbus Temple, Curtis showed that to me after the party.

Sunday After church we went back to Curtis's to get our dinner ready. We put together our roast for the crock pot, played a little bit of piano, and just spent a few hours together. We also drove to an empty parking lot to do a driving lesson... Curtis has a manual transmission and I can't drive stick, so we decided to try and attack that problem.... problem still not solved. I need A LOT of practice! After that, we played games at the assisted living center and sang for them with some of Curtis's friends. Curtis and I sang, "All I ask of You" from Phantom, and then Curtis sang a couple of other songs too. It was really fun!

Sunday Afternoon

Then it was time for dinner! Curtis had talked all of his roommates into finding other places to be that evening... that sneaky boy of mine... so we had the place to ourselves! Curtis got the fire started in the fireplace, while I made the salad and put the rolls in the oven. A few minutes later he pulled out a TON of candles, a table runner, napkins, and fancy glasses. He had planned this candlelight dinner! I was SUPER excited about this! Very cute! So we ate our romantic dinner and then cuddled up in front of the fireplace.
Here's a picture of the table, but I didn't get a picture of all of the candles across the mantle of the fireplace and ALL around the room. Literally, we had enough light to eat by total candlelight. It was really cute! LOVED it!

After a while, Curtis pulled out his guitar. This is something totally normal, so I didn't think much about it. He played a few love songs on his guitar, and then he went over to the piano. When we moved the couch earlier, he wanted to leave some room between the couch and the piano, but I said, "Why do we need room between the couch and piano? It's not like we're going to be playing the piano tonight." Well he decided after playing some guitar he wanted to play me a song on the piano (little did I know this was his plan all along, and I was being difficult.) So he played a song and then asked me to come over and play a song for him he wanted to sing through. I just wanted to sit on the couch and cuddle with him in front of the fire and enjoy our romantic evening, and here he wanted me to go play through some song we already sang through earlier in the day. I did go and play it for him, but I definitely put up a little struggle of whining and complaining. When we got to a particular spot in the song one of the keys on the piano stuck and wouldn't play. We had noticed this earlier on Saturday, but Curtis said he'd check on it later and see what was wrong. Well he decided he wanted to check on it at this particular moment. He had to move all the books and the lamp from the piano, and I thought it would be more convenient to do at another time. I really resisted him trying to be "Mr. Fix-it" at this point. I literally was trying to hold his arms from being able to open the piano. Haha. Finally, I just gave in. He opened the piano and there was a ring box! He asked me if I wanted to open it, but I told him I thought he should do it. So he opened it up, and then he got down on one knee. Very cute! We celebrated for a little bit and then decided to call parents and grandparents before it got too late that night! So exciting! Luckiest girl alive!

Here's a picture of us hiding in the roses and then a picture of my ring. Pictures don't do it justice. It sparkles WAY more than shows in a picture. Curtis did an amazing job picking out the ring. I LOVE it!

Monday: Valentine's Day
Curtis went to a few classes Monday morning while I studied in the library... well I was supposed to study. Then we went to his place and made lunch and studied for a few hours before we had to leave for my flight. We decided since we didn't really get any good pictures the night before we would take some more, so there's a few below. On the way to the airport that afternoon, we stopped to get gas. Curtis insisted on buying me a sandwich for my plane ride, so when he asked me what I wanted, I told him to surprise me... He came back with a Chicken Salad sandwich and a peanut butter Snickers bar... He couldn't get any more perfect for me!
